Globalization Impact

Globalization has had a considerable impact on local cultures around the world. However, in another aspect, globalization fosters better cultural acculturation, enriching local cultures with new elements and innovations from outside. For example, it creates diverse and interesting cultural blends. On the other hand, globalization can also potentially erase local cultural identities. The strong influence of foreign cultures, especially from Western countries, often dominates existing traditional practices. Many local languages and traditions are nearly extinct because the current generation prefers international pop culture, from music to dance. Therefore, although globalization brings benefits in terms of cultural acculturation, it is crucial for societies to preserve and protect their cultural heritage so it does not disappear in the wave of globalization.
