OPINION PARAGRAPH : Islamic Education in Modern Era

 

         As-Syafi’iyah Islamic University or UIA is a private university in Bekasi that was founded in 1965. This UIA was founded by KH Abdullah Syafii. This university has a variety of study programmes. Among them are Islam, economics, engineering, health, social sciences, and law. UIA is a campus that prioritizes education with Islamic values, and aims to produce competent and moral alumni. [LN]

In my opinion, UIA is a campus that puts social science and religious science together. Without losing the characteristic characteristic of an Islamic campus. In addition to studying world science, in this campus we as students also study the science of religion as the supply of the world. Therefore, it is not to be denied that many of these UIAs have a nickname as ustadz or ustadzah. Because inside the campus is taught how to preach to continue the struggle of the founder of the campus. [LN]

As we know, that college is studying a science in a particular field. However, at the UIA campus it's not enough just that. In college, we're going to apply how science can be useful when it comes alongside religious science. Why? [LN]


If you look at history, Islam used to be on the side of science in the world. All worldly scientific sciences run together and in balance. However, since the collapse of the Ottoman Turks in 1923, this center of control has moved towards the western world. They continued to expand and make many breakthroughs in various fields with research and discoveries in different fields, especially with the presence of Darwin's theory of evolution which holds that science and religion are two different paths.


And now we find a solution so that we can re-establish that science and religion can go side by side again With UIA. [LN]



Hariz Enggar Wijaya, S.P.I., M.P., Psi. (one of the authors of the book “Social Sciences and Humanities”) said: that restoring the position of religious science as it should be is the responsibility of the entire Muslim community. Fighting for this is a fardhu ain for every Muslim.[LN]
