  History As-Syafi’iyah Islamic University is an evolution of the Islamic Education Academy (AKPI) As-Syafi’iyah, which was founded on November 14, 1965. On March 12, 1969, AKPI was upgraded to a university. The pioneering and dedication began in 1928 when 18-year-old Abdullah Syafi’ie started a madrasa with a piece of land from his father. The madrasa, originally named "Al-Islamiyah," developed into "As-Syafi’iyah Educational Institution."
